The "who I root for" list, playoff edition

Among the eight teams in the MLB postseason, I naturally have preferences as to who I'd like to see win. Therefore, here's my ranking of the teams in descending order of desirability. This lets me decide in advance of any game's pairing which team to be rooting for....

1. Boston Red Sox (local team, would be nice to repeat)
   
2. San Diego Padres (familiarity factor as the Mariners' spring training neighbors)
   
3. St. Louis Cardinals (give them a chance to not get swept this year)
   
4. Los Angeles California Anaheim Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (I wanted the Mariners to get Vlad Guerrero)
   
5. Chicago White Sox (bah)
   
6. Houston Astros (double bah)
   
7. Atlanta Braves (triple bah)
   
8. New York Yankees (quadruple bah doesn't even begin to cover it)

I'd root for St. Louis ahead of San Diego. It never ceases to amaze me what Tony LaRussa can do. Give him just about any player setup and he will turn them into a working, high-performing team.

San Diego is also high on my list, because they are in Petco Park, and I think it is inexpressibly cute to name your baseball park after bunnies and puppies.

The Astros are a little higher on my list than on yours, because, they are Astros, and more power to the folks who can steal pitchers away from the NYY, and, I just enjoy them.

The Cards suck and winning-all-the-time teams are boring.

CWS are also boring, but mostly, their coverage is unbelieveably annoying. Yes, now the world shall know that Carl Everett, A.J. Pierzynski, and all the other bad-reputation players are filled with a Secret Pain, that only Ozzie knows how to harness into victory. I swear, John Tesh is ready and waiting to narrate a soft-focus montage. He'll play piano!!

You realize that after the Red Sox lose to the Yankees again (whenever that might be) they won't have that stupid curse to lay the blame on anymore.
