Five things

Five things of approximately equal likelihood:
1. Verizon starts installing FiOS in Cambridge
2. Mobipocket releases an iPhone/iPod touch version of their reader software
3. Apple releases an iPod touch with Bluetooth, including tethering/PAN profile support
4. EMI reprints Peter Wolf's Lights Out album
5. Godot arrives

I'm hoping for number 5!

Wait, Lights Out is out of print?

That's a tragedy.

$99? Wow.

Fortunately, Youtube provides the video of Sun City, although the entire album is something I long ago misplaced.

Hey, if Guns 'n' Roses could finally release Chinese Democracy, anything can happen. :-)

Also, Knuth volume 5.

Ha! Don't say this to Harlan, though.

Actually, do say it to Harlan. I'll be standing waaay over there, watching from a safe distance.

(smirks michievously) will Harlan be at Boskone?

Can we make sure there's no unsecured furniture near him when they do?

[identity profile] sethb.livejournal.com 2009-01-29 05:40 pm (UTC)(link)
As if. (You don't know about Harlan's attitude towards NESFA?)

[personal profile] ron_newman 2009-01-29 05:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Not really, please say more (or maybe you can just link to something appropriate)

#2 sent me off to find mobipocket for j2me, which I installed, and in the process also found stanza (http://www.lexcycle.com/stanza) - acceptable workaround? (I haven't installed that yet, but it claims to support some DRMed content on iPhone/touch.)

[livejournal.com profile] kalmn is expecting Godot in, IIRC, 18-24 months.

Do you know this joke?

She's adopting. Her mother objected to her referring to the non-existent child as 'the kid'. So she ask her FL for help:

i suspect her thought was that i could now start referring to the kid by whatever i am going to end up naming them.

heck with that. first, i don't know gender yet, and won't for a year. second, i am oddly superstitious about telling people the names i have picked so far.

so. i need a babyname. like niblet or neo or widget or something like that. handy, clear on who i am referring to, obviously not the kid's final name, usable in polite company, yet guaranteed to make my mom make that one face.

any suggestions?

There were many suggestions. [livejournal.com profile] wordweaverlynn came up with Godot. And that's the one that [livejournal.com profile] kalmn picked.
