Post Worldcon update

At YUL in the AC lounge; it was definitely a good call to get the lounge pass add-on for my flight. Wi-Fi, snacks, drinks, comfy chairs, power outlets, and OMG clean bathroom yay. I'm tired and worn out but I had a damn good con despite shut-down parties, overly long elevator lines, and the nearly endless walk to the panel rooms.

Back to work tomorrow. Urgh.

ETA: flight delayed ~1hr. Back in the lounge. Very glad I got the pass.

Related to being in an airport and the panel room walk, it occurred to me around day two that I could've made a handsome profit by renting one of those tramcarts that airports use to move disabled folk between gates and running it on a circle in the long 500 level corridor. Charge 25 cents a trip and I would've cleaned up.

Some airports, like National, have people push you long distances in wheelchairs. And the carts only work on the inside of the x-ray barrier. Once you're out (or on the way in), like Minneapolis, you still get pushed in wheelchairs by people. I wish we could get carts from entry to exit.

Except that you have to go through security separate from the cart anyway.

Yeah, and that would be fine with me. Even just to change carts -- one for inside security and one for outside, so they knew the inside one was clear -- would be fine. It just takes forever to get anywhere with the wheelchairs.

You would have either made a fortune or caused bloodshed when you could only take one or two people at a time. Does anyone know how long that &*^% corridor is? After a couple of days, I started picking program items by how far away they were.

I'm glad you had fun! I'm trying to think of when is the next con I can consider going to that you will attend?

I like Boston....this is a possibility.

Also, since the ABA conference in DC is so late this year I am probably not going to Penguicon but might be able to instead go to WISCON! So I will have to see.

Penguicon is switching hotels (and chairs).
