So, what's good to do in Toronto?

I won't be at WisCon, but all y'all who are going should have fun. A good chunk of the folks on my flist have said they'll be there.

hr_macgirl and I will be in Toronto for the weekend, instead, though; what's there that's interesting but obscure enough that we should do it but won't know about it unless someone mentions it? What's well known but is still a shouldn't miss?

"geek friendly" is a definite plus. trains and planes are special favourites. and we won't have a car.

Ah, while the Toronto Aerospace Museum (http://www.torontoaerospacemuseum.com/) is brilliant, especially the replica Avro Arrow they're building, it's a bit of a pain to get to. They recommend getting the TTC to Downsview then a cab - we managed to get a bus, but it was hike from the bus stop.

Drinks: I recommend C'est What (http://www.cestwhat.com/), which has Proper Beer. Also Caffé Volo, 587 Yonge Street, which has loads of beers, including cask at weekends, and is a rather fine Italian eaterie too.

Going on the ferry over to the islands is pleasant for a gentle afternoon stroll. The CN Tower was worth it, but full of sprogs. Chinatown is fascinating, and a wander down Queen Street from Downtown to a few blocks beyond Chinatown (where Bakka Books is now) is great for weird shopping.

There is a microbrewery located almost next to the base of the CN Tower that has tours.

Also, the NHL Museum is in Toronto, in case you've never seen the Stanley Cup close up.

The World's Biggest Bookstore, on the other hand, is another thing altogether, and definitely sounds like a worthwhile substance to abuse.
