The cheat sheet for the evil lyrics quiz of DOOM

Now that everyone's completely forgotten this, I may as well give the last few answers.

  1. Daht da-da dit, daht da-da dit, da da da-da da da da dit "Tom's Diner", DNA featuring Suzanne Vega, [livejournal.com profile] kjc007
  2. Tra-da-lan-da, tra-da-lan-da, tra-da-lan-da, tra-da-lan-da, da-da-da-un-diddle-un-diddle-un-diddle-ah-da-da. "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)", The Proclaimers, [livejournal.com profile] timprov
  3. Doo doo de do do, de do do, de do do, de do do do do do do-do do do doot. "Mahna Mahna", Mahna Mahna & the Two Snowths. (This was the long bit, because the short bit was just too obvious, even without "mahna mahna".)
  4. Naa, na na na na, na na na na, na na na na-na nah, na na na nah. "Land of 1000 Dances", Wilson Pickett, [livejournal.com profile] neonnurse
  5. Oh! Oh ee oh ee oh. "Jungle Love", The Time, [livejournal.com profile] amberdine & [livejournal.com profile] moof
  6. Do-do do do, do-do do do, do-do do do do do do do. "Sweetest Thing", U2 (the bit at the end).
  7. Laaa, la la la la laaa, la la la la laaa, la la la la laaaa. "Crocodile Rock", Elton John. (I really thought this would be one of the first ones guessed.)
  8. Ah, yla-ah-ya-ah, la-ya-yah, yla-ah-ya-ah, la-ah-aa-ah. "Dreams", The Cranberries, [livejournal.com profile] siderea
  9. De do do do, de da da da. "De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da", The Police, [livejournal.com profile] tober

#7 actually made me think of the Smurf theme song... :-P

And the version of Crocodile Rock I own doesn't have any "lala" type lyrics, just real words (not necessarily well-enunciated, but real words nevertheless). Granted, they were sung years after Elton first sang it, so it's essentially a cover of something he originally composed. :-)

I always heard #3 with different lyrics.

*raises hand*

Me too. My version goes:

Do dooo do do do
Do do do do
Do dooo de do do, de do do, de do do, de do do do do doot doot doot doot doot.

And I counted the doot's veeeeery carefully, I'll have you know ;)

fyi you have a spurious "" tag at the bottom of your list (or maybe it wasn't supposed to be spurious).
