Random comment: at the end of that panel, one of the audience members asked about whether the Mormon version of the history of the Americas ever been used as a setting for fiction. I happen to know the answer: Yes, but the fiction in question is mostly published by Mormon publishers, and as such is published as straight-up historical instead of alt-hist. (Example: the Tennis Shoes (http://deseretbook.com/store/product?sku=3828537) series.)

It's amazing what you can learn about the world during a layover in SLC. Anyway. The comment started me wondering about what Utah would look like in an alt-hist where the LDS church didn't renounce polygamy.
